BRIEF HISTORY:
The Rockwood / Lindbergh wrestling club was formed in November 1998 by joining the
established “little league” programs from the respective high schools. Our merger was necessary to provide
adequate numbers of practice partners across the wide range of age and variation in size. Consolidation of the
programs has also proven to be a good way to pool coaching resources and to compete with other St. Louis
programs. For several years our club has held an annual little league tournament in January at Lindbergh high
school. In 2002 we were awarded the AAU Ozark association championship tournament, which is the longest
standing AAU wrestling tournament west of the Mississippi. This tournament, backed by many parent
volunteers, raises a significant amount of money for our club and for off-season camps and tournaments for
the high school wrestling programs. We look forward to hosting the AAU Ozark association championship
again this season.
OZARK AAU ASSOCIATION:
R/L wrestling club and 40+ other clubs in Missouri and Illinois are sanctioned
by the Ozark branch of the amateur athletic union (AAU) with nearly 3,000 wrestlers. One of the primary
benefits of the AAU is sports liability and sports accident insurance. All athletes and coaches must be AAU
members, and tournaments that we participate in are registered AAU events.
COACHES & VOLUNTEERS:
Working with the Rockwood Summit and Lindbergh high school coaches, the
RL wrestling club has assembled an experienced coaching staff. Many of our coaches wrestled through high
school and college, and have remained active in the sport well beyond their competitive days. Of course, there
is always room for more help, whether it is on the mat or as a volunteer at our tournament or other activities.
Please see any of the coaches if you want to help.
